Larry Mawby plants grape vines on the Leelanau Peninsula and starts making still wines.


Larry makes the first Mawby Methode Champenoise wines realizing that the Leelanau climate and growing region are ripe for high quality sparkling wine production.

MAWBY starts exclusively producing Methode Champenoise sparkling wines, abandoning still wine production.


Recognizing a market for more affordable options, MAWBY introduces a line of Cuve Close Method sparkling wines. Fresh, fruity, and fun, the labels include Sex, Detroit and Us.
