DTC and Marketing Manager
Claire grew up in Traverse City and had heard that Madonna’s father was opening a winery near her hometown. A fruitless search for Ciccone vineyards led instead to Black Star Farms where she began working in the tasting room at 19 and 3/4. She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Journalism, focus on Wine and Winemaking. Claire was able to take classes through the VIticulture and Enology program at MSU, including a seminar taught by Larry Mawby. From there, work included interning at the Michigan Grape and Wine Council, freelance writing about wine and food, working harvests in New Zealand and Western Australia and finally settling in Sonoma County, CA. Claire spent 8 years working with the Trione Family building their winery from the ground up, doing everything from punchdowns to wedding parties. Her son was born in 2013 and it felt like it was time to come home. Claire was thrilled to join the MAWBY team in late 2015 . It’s a big job to bring the MAWBYness to the masses, but she’s excited to share MAWBY bubblies with you.
When not at work, Clare loves to read, swim, adventure with her 5 year old and experiment in the kitchen with food, wine and friends.
